We are less than 72 hours away from departure. Charlie and I have been planning this trip for months, and despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered the usual last-minute challenges. Most of these have been minor and easily handled. The major concern at present is the re-eruption of the Icelandic volcano which could, once again, wreak havoc with air travel in Europe. Our travel agent is mildly concerned, but she has encouraged us to sit tight until Thursday. Charlie is adept at dealing with last-minute schedule changes; however, I am not. Gate changes make me antsy……re-routing a trip guarantees chaos.
In the meantime, we focus on packing. Actually, I’m obsessed with packing–my husband is totally unconcerned and spent the evening editing photos on the computer while I made a ‘trial run’ at packing. The bag currently weighs 52 pounds which means I have two days to eliminate two pounds of “stuff.” Charlie will most likely pull a suitcase out of the closet sometime late Thursday evening……….
